Summary

The Department of the Air Force (DAF) is seeking innovative technical solutions for on-site backup power generation through a solicitation titled "Flexible Fuel 'Flex Fuel' Power Generation." This initiative aims to enhance system availability, increase fuel flexibility, reduce costs, and lower operations and maintenance requirements compared to existing systems. Contractors with expertise in energy solutions, particularly those capable of developing technologies that can operate on multiple gaseous fuel types, including fossil fuels, are encouraged to submit proposals. The project will utilize Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs) to partner with both traditional and nontraditional defense contractors, as well as non-profit research institutions, to prototype these solutions. The solicitation emphasizes the need for a resilient, economical, and clean energy generation system that can integrate with existing infrastructure and adapt to a rapidly changing energy landscape.
